The Oybin health resort, nestled in the valley and surrounded by green mountains, is the vibrating center of the Zittau Mountains. In the center is a beehive-like sandstone massif – the Oybin mountain. Ruins still testify to the former castle, where Emporer Charles IV spent his old age, and a monastery of the Celestine Order. The “Märchenspiele” (fairy-tale plays) attract many children. Carved movable wooden figures show images of fairy-tales and the everyday life in Upper Lusatia. We, therefore, recommend you, too, take an eventful journey on the Zittau narrow gauge railway to explore these mountains. Once you are in Oybin, the romantic health resort is also the ideal starting point for all your activities in the Zittau Mountains.
