The Chemnitz Park Railway has been in operation since 1954 on a 2.3 km, 600 mm gauge circuit across the Küchwald forest in Chemnitz. This tourist attraction is operated as a recreational facility for children, with approx. 80 kids and teenagers learning and practising the basics of how to operate a real railway. Every year, over 110,000 passengers enjoy a train ride here. Our highlight, a Riesa class steam locomotive, built by Henschel in 1948, is in operation on a regular basis. We also highly recommend a visit to the engine facilities. In the inner courtyard, you will have the opportunity to see a 200 sqm, 45 mm gauge garden railway layout while enjoying our good food. On special riding days, we offer rides on a mine train or draisine.
