The FHWE association reactivated the Schönheide Ost/Schönheide Süd/Muldenberg standard gauge line and has been operating this line since 2008, with the „Wernesgrüner Schienen-Express” motor-powered draisine running between Schönheide Süd and Hammerbrücke. Passenger service is offered at several weekends from April to October. At the Carlsfeld and Schönheide Süd stations, the association also rebuilt the 750-mm (29.5 in) tracks of the former narrow gauge railway line from the town of Wilkau-Haßlau. Once a year, the FHWE, in cooperation with the Museum Railway of Schönheide, organises the Wilkau – Carlsfeld (WCd) Narrow Gauge Festival.
