The Syratal leisure area, just a 10-minute walk from the city center of Plauen, features a children's railway with a total length of track of 1.1 km (0.68 miles), which has been in operation since October 1959. The electric locomotives of the railway are modified electric locomotives of mine trains, and the passenger cars were specially built for this railway. Along the short railway route are many attractions of the leisure park, such as Jumicar course, miniature golf course and petting zoo.
Opening hours/train operation
from Easter to the last weekend in October:
Tuesday to Friday 1 pm – 6 pm; Saturday, Sunday and public holidays 10 am – 6 pm;
during school holidays in Saxony 10 am – 6 pm daily
The railway is the only park railway in Deutschland with an electric overhead line.

Die Metalist ist eine elektrische Grubenlok, welche für den Einsatz auf der Parkeisenbahn Syratal modifiziert wurde. Die Metalist besteht aus 2 Grubenelektroloks, welche in einem Rahmen miteinander verbunden sind.
